What is the difference between direct restoration and a ceramic veneer?
The dentist forms composite restorations directly on the tooth, usually in a single visit. A ceramic veneer is manufactured in a laboratory and placed after separate tooth preparation. Indications, extent of preparation, service life, and repairability vary, so the method is chosen after diagnosis.
How long does a composite tooth restoration last?
Service life depends on the size of the defect, bite, habits, and care. During check-ups, the restoration is polished, repaired, or replaced if necessary.
Can a completely destroyed tooth be restored?
Not always. The doctor evaluates the root, the amount of healthy tooth tissue, and the masticatory load. A post is used only when indicated to retain the core; with significant damage, a core inlay and crown may be required, and sometimes the tooth cannot be restored.
Will the restored tooth differ in color?
The doctor selects the material based on the shade and translucency of adjacent teeth, but complete invisibility cannot be guaranteed: color perception depends on lighting, initial tooth condition, and composite properties.
Is it necessary to follow a diet after restoration?
In the first 24 hours after the procedure, it is advisable to exclude staining foods and drinks (coffee, tea, wine, juices) from your diet so that the composite color fully stabilizes.
